ABSTRACT

@#Objective To observe the effect of Zhuang Medicine Jib on spasm in hemiplegics after stroke. Methods From January, 2014 to December, 2015, 55 patients with spastic hemiplegia after stroke were divided randomly into treatment group (n=27) and control group (n=28). Both groups accepted routine rehabilitation and acupuncture, while the treatment group accepted Zhuang Medicine Jib in addition. They were assessed with modified Ashworth Scale (MAS), Barthel index (BI), Simpling Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) before and four weeks after treatment. The side-effects within three months after treatment were recorded. Results The scores of MAS, BI and FMA improved in both groups after treatment (t>3.32, P<0.01), and improved more in the treatment group than in the control group (t>2.286, P<0.05). No side-effect was found in the follow-up. Conclusion Zhuang Medicine Jib can further relieve spasm after stroke, and improve the motor function and activities of daily living.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of focal ischemic preconditioning (IPC) on the expression of protein kinase-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase ( PERK ) and glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78) mRNA and protein after focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) in rats.MethodsAll 120 male SD rats were randomly divided into three groups: sham-operation group, middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) group and brain ischemia preconditioning (BIP) group. Each group was further divided into 4 subgroups according to 12 h,1,2 and 3 d after I/R.The IPC models were made in order to measure the expression of PERK,GRP78 mRNA and protein by in situ hybridization and Western blot, and the apoptosis rate of neuron by flow cytometry. Results ①The expression of PERK mRNA increased and reached the peak at 12 h,then decreased continuously after 1 d.BIP could decrease its expression. The expression of PERK protein increased at 12 h and reached the peak at 24 h,then decreased continuously after 2 d.BIP could decrease its expression.②The expression both of GRP78 mRNA and its protein all increased and reached the peak at 12 h,then decreased continuously.BIP could increase their expression (mRNA:12 h: 136.70±9.53,F=32.265; 24 h:147.54 ±9.97,F=54.920; 2 d:158.16 ±9.44,F=45.374; 3d: 165.85±10.26,F=16.493,P<0.05; protein:12 h: 1.319±0.116,F=5.619,P<0.05; 24 h: 1.226±0.108,F=33.742,P<0.01; 2 d:1.183 ±0.112,F =46.556,P <0.01; 3 d:1.115± 0.098,F =11.730,P<0.05).③The rate of apoptosis neuron of rats in MCAO increased markedly at 12 h after reperfusion, and reached the peak at 1 d,then decreased continuously.BIP could decrease the rate of apoptosis neuron. Conclusion BIP can protect neurons through inhibiting the expression of PERK and inducing the expression of GRP78 after endoplasmic reticulum stress in rats.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of tuina treatment for lumbar intervertebral disc herniation. Methods: 150 cases with lumbar intervertebral disc herniation were treated with tuina, followed by a retrospective analysis and summarization on the clinical efficacy. Results: 43 cases obtained clinical recovery, 67 cases had a marked effect, 34 cases had improvement and 6 cases failed. The total effective rate was 96.0%. Conclusion: Tuina is effective for lumbar intervertebral disc herniation.

ABSTRACT

Studies on theory and clinic of massage in treating lumbar disc herniation were usually done fome aspects of traditional meridians and acupoints theory or modern biomechanics theory, few was down on basis of the guidance of musculature theory for massage in treating lumbar disc herniation. In fact,it was used generally by civilian doctors and minor ethnic doctors in clinic. So,this article discussed the guidance of musculature theory for massage in treating lumbar disc herniation from following aspects:basic concept of musculature theory, the understanding on etiopathogenisis and pathogenesis of lumbar disc herniation in musculature theory, the selection of massage location and manipulation maneuver, etc.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo explore an effective rehabilitation method to treat hemiplegic patients with stroke by acupuncture.Methods62 hemiplegic patients were treated by Opposing needling and Non-opposing needling twice a day in alternate way.The motor function of patients was assessed with Brunnstrom Assessment and activities daily living(ADLs) were assessed with Barthel Index revised.ResultsAt 3 months after the treatment,The rate of motor function improved above Ⅳ-Ⅳ level accounted for 62.90%,that of ADL improved 60 points accounted for 56.45%.There were significant difference in Brunnstrom level among pre-treatment and 1,2 months after the treatment(P<0.01),but no significant difference between 2 and 3 months (P>0.05).ConclusionsOpposing needling and Non-opposing needling used twice a day in alternate way can promote the recovery of motor function and ADL of hemiplegic patients with stroke, especially early (less than 2 months) recovery.
